5 Nights/ 6 Days Paro, Thimpu and Punakha

Day 01: Arrival in Paro to Thimphu  (55kms/ 2-3hrs approx.)

Upon arrival from Paro airport and you will be welcomed by our airport representative and he will assist you from the airport to your hotel in Thimpu. Enjoy a scenic drive sojourn in Bhutan’s most beautiful valley, followed by an hour-long drive to Thimphu. on arrival, you will check in your hotel and rest of the day relaxing. Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, occupies a valley in the country’s western interior. In addition to being the government seat, the city is known for its Buddhist sites. The massive Tashichho Dzong is a fortified monastery and government palace with gold-leaf roofs. The Memorial Chorten, a whitewashed structure with a gold spire, is a revered Buddhist shrine dedicated to Bhutan’s third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02: Thimpu City tour

Post breakfast you will follow a full day city tour of Thimpu including the famous attraction like Memorial Stupa, Changangkha monastery, Tashichhodzong, Folk Heritage Museum, Textile Academy, Academy of Art and Craft, the site of the world’s largest Buddha statue, and the Thimphu viewpoint at Sangaygang. You can also see the parliament house where Bhutan’s political leaders meet and take decisions for the Bhutanese people. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03: Thimpu - Punakha by road 75kms / 2-3hrs approx.

Post breakfast you will check-out from your hotel and later drive by road to Punakha. Punakha is a town in the Himalayas of Bhutan. It's known for the Punakha Dzong, a 17th-century fortress at the juncture of the Pho and Mo Chhu rivers. The fortress hosts the Punakha Tshechu, a religious festival featuring masked dances and music. In the surrounding Punakha Valley, temples include the fertility-focused Chimi Lhakhang and the hilltop Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, which has river and mountain views. On arrival, you will check-in at your hotel and later follow the city tour of Punakha including the visit of Punakha Dzong, Chimi Lhakhang Temple, Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Dochu la pas, Punakha Suspension Bridge and more. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04: Punakha -Paro by road (120kms/ 3-4hrs approx.)

Post breakfast you will check out from your hotel and drive by road to Paro. En route, you will be visiting  Kichu Temple. Kichu Temple, one of the 108 temples built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King Songsten Gampo. The story goes that a giant demon lay across the whole area of Bhutan and the Himalayas. He was preventing the spread of Buddhism in Tibet and Bhutan. To overcome her, King Songtsen Gampo decided to build 108 temples, which would be placed on all the points of her body. On arrival, you will check in your hotel and relax.  Evening stroll around the local market of Paro. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 05: Tiger nest Monestry hike

Post breakfast you will be ready to hike up to Taktshand Monastery and The Hike would be around 2hrs and from there you can enjoy a spectacular view of Tiger nest Monastery.  Optional: You can stop for refreshment at the viewpoint Cafeteria.  Then there will be a further walkabout 1hrs to reach tiger nest monastery.  According to a source that in the 8th century Guru Rinpoche flew on the back of a tigress from eastern Bhutan to this place and meditated in a cave here for 3 months.  After visiting the monastery, walk back down to the road on the way you can stop for lunch at the viewpoint cafeteria and then walk further down to the road point. On arrival, you will check-in at your hotel and later you will be visiting the National Museum of Bhutan, Jangtsa Dumsteg Lakhang, and Kyichu Lhakhang. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 06: Paro airport departure

Post breakfast you will check out from your hotel and later you will be transferred to Paro international airport in time for your flight to onwards destination.
